Clan Adam is a Scottish clan with a long and rich history. According to tradition, the clan’s founder was Adam of Gordon, who was said to have come to Scotland from England during the reign of King Malcolm III in the 11th century. Adam of Gordon was granted lands in Aberdeenshire, and from there the clan spread throughout Scotland.
The clan’s early history is marked by its support of Robert the Bruce during the Wars of Scottish Independence in the 14th century. The clan also played a prominent role in the Jacobite uprisings of the 17th and 18th centuries, supporting the Stuart claim to the throne of Scotland and England.
During the 19th century, many members of Clan Adam emigrated from Scotland to other parts of the world, including North America, Australia, and New Zealand. Today, the clan is represented by the Clan Adam Society, which works to preserve and promote the history and culture of the clan.
