The Auchinleck or Affleck Clan is a Scottish clan associated with the lands of Auchinleck in Ayrshire. The name Auchinleck is derived from the Gaelic “achadh nan leac,” meaning “field of the flagstones.” The clan’s history can be traced back to the 12th century when the lands of Auchinleck were granted to the family. The Auchinlecks played roles in Scottish society, including military service and holding prominent positions. Notably, Sir Thomas the Rhymer, a famous Scottish poet and prophet, was associated with the clan. Today, descendants of the Auchinleck or Affleck Clan carry forward the clan’s name and heritage.
