MacArthur (or Arthur)

The Clan MacArthur is a Scottish Highland clan associated with the region of Argyll. The clan’s name is derived from the Gaelic “MacArtair,” meaning “son of Arthur.” They are said to be descended from the legendary King Arthur of Britain.

The MacArthurs were known as a warrior clan, fiercely loyal and protective of their lands and people. They held lands in and around Loch Awe and played a significant role in the medieval conflicts of the region. Their seat was Dunderave Castle, situated on the shores of Loch Fyne.

One notable figure from Clan MacArthur is Ewen MacArthur, also known as Ewen MacArthair or Ewen of the Battles. He was renowned for his exceptional strength and courage in battle.
