MacKay

The Clan Mackay is a Scottish clan associated with the region of Caithness and Sutherland. The clan takes its name from the Gaelic MacAoidh, meaning “son of Aodh.” The Mackays were known for their warrior traditions and their territorial strength in the north of Scotland. A notable figure of the clan is Iye MacKay, also known as Iain Abrach Mackay. Iye MacKay was a chief of the clan during the 16th century. He was a skilled military leader and fought in various conflicts, including the Battle of Ardnaree. Iye MacKay’s strategic prowess and his loyalty to his clan made him a notable figure in Clan Mackay’s history.
