The Clan MacEwen, also spelled Clan MacEwan, is a Scottish clan associated with the region of Argyll. The clan takes its name from Ewen, a popular given name in Gaelic. The MacEwens were historically centered around the area of Loch Fyne and held lands in Argyll. A notable figure of the clan is Rev. Donald MacEwen, a Gaelic scholar and minister. He dedicated his life to preserving and promoting Gaelic language, literature, and culture. Rev. MacEwen’s works include translations of religious texts and poems, as well as contributions to Gaelic education.
